I understand that the scale can be a trigger for a lot of people. I do not happen to be one of those people. I am, but I am not. Sure, the number (up or down) on the scale can send me into an eating frenzy; it is something that I am aware of and in being aware of it, the eating frenzy then becomes a “choice”.
How does the scale going down send me into a eating frenzy, you ask? Well, I will tell you…If the scale is going down then I must have this healthy eating thing figured out, right? Definitely not! Yet these are the thoughts that run through my mind and are part of the reason I always end up back at the beginning scale number or even worse, a larger scale number (lost pounds always seem to return and they bring friends).
In knowing this so I do sometimes avoid the scale. There are days when I just don’t want to know how much of a gain (it’s usually always a gain if I am avoiding the scale) I have had.
Since today is Day 1 of “the pivot”…it was time to face reality and step on the scale………..
………Well now, that wasn’t fun. The number isn’t as high as it could have been (there is something to be said for kind-of-sort-of watching what I eat) but it was definitely a number that I am not thrilled to see AGAIN!
Oh well, moving forward. The first hurdle is done; I have stepped on the scale and have faced my “weight” reality. Now, to continue facing the reality of each and every food choice. Sounds daunting, doesn’t it?
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I have one of those lovely scales that also tells me how much body fat, muscle mass, BMI, visceral fat, etc… that I have. It is time for me to note down those numbers as well. Oh joy! The reality of these numbers…that’s another post for another day.

Once you pick an eating plan; be it macros, keto, a pre-made food plan, etc… Commit to sticking to it for at least the month of March. Trust me, I know how easy it is to pick a plan, but sticking to it is another story.
