It is so true… “What we resist persists…”. The original statement by Psychologist Carl Jung is “What you resist not only persists, but will grow in size.”
If you think about it, what we resist are usually things that make us uncomfortable or embarrassed, yet if we would just find a way to tackle those things they would no longer be a roadblock or obstacle in our lives.
My friend, Andrea, recently said, “When you hit the wall of resistance…Look for the stairs!”
For a long time, I resisted sharing my weight loss struggles with anyone and the number on the scale slowly crept higher. It was a part of my life that I felt like a failure in. Once I started to share my journey (which was not easy for me), I found that I was not alone and that there were others that struggled as much or even more than I did. I also realized that this was not something I was failing at, I just had not found the “stairs” that led to the right path for me.
Once I stopped resisting and started sharing, the world opened up to so many new opportunities; one of the most rewarding is being a health coach. I am now able to help others find the “stairs” to their optimal health journey.
